Greening the Games Project

The Olympic Media Village Free-standing Display

Enviro Doctor designed, installed and maintained the display of mature plant
species in decorative containers with floral under planting in the Media
Village from the middle of August through to the middle of October.

The brief encompassed an area of nearly eighteen (18) hectares of the site
previously occupied by Lidcombe Hospital. The units had to be capable of
dismantling at the end of the display period and be removed from the site.

The area had been designed to facilitate ease of identification area by area
and had been divided into colour zones.

Each zone was to have a common colour container and a single plant specie
despite the fact that several of the zones incorporated several
microclimates ranging from full sun exposed to the west to heavy shade
exposed to the south and a variety of combinations of the these through out.

Although the original brief was to supply some seven hundred (700) units it
was later increased to allow for the supply of over eleven hundred (1,100)
units.

All species were to be Australian in origin and be spring flowering.
